      Simmers Violin Makers consists of a young, experienced and enthusiastic group of professionally trained violin makers and musicians. We bring our skills together to provide you - the string player - with a highly professional, high quality outlet for violins, violas, violoncellos, double basses and bows.

Our studio and workshop were established in 1997 by John Simmers. Since then, Simmers Violin Makers has proudly gained the reputation as one of Australia's finest violin makers, restorers and dealers. Our clientele includes some of Queensland's most prominent string players and teachers.

Our studio and workshop are situated only 2.5 km from the Brisbane GPO. We are easily accessible by road from all areas and there is an efficient bus service from the city. The Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the Conservatorium are only a short drive away.

Simmers Violin Makers wishes to support and promote music education. We sponsor an annual prize, The Simmers Violin Makers Prize, at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. It is a cash prize of $1000, open to all Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass students enrolled at the QCM.
